NOVEMBER 9 & 10, 2013

  We are excited to present a Paste Paper Workshop to take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10, 2013.

No intimidation here!  No previous skills are necessary.

It’s as simple as finger painting!  You are limited only by your imagination.

The total workshop cost for Members is $50.00

The total workshop cost for Non-members is $65.00

Paste Paper Sample

YOU CANNOT REGISTER THROUGH THE WEB SITE.

Georgia Baisier and Eugenia Uhl will present this exciting workshop.  On Saturday, the plan is to make paste paper.  This is achieved by applying a base layer of a liquid mixture of art paste, colored with acrylic paints, to wet paper.  Then we apply another layer to the dry paper with paste and make marks with various tools.  The dried paste paper can then be written upon and also used to make books.  Both days will be filled with making paste paper and various types of simple bound books with paste paper.  Sunday, Eugenia will also show us the method of writing on the paste papers we have made.  Be prepared, making paste paper is addictive!

At the end of the two days you should have plenty of paste paper, a couple of books and have learned how to write on the paste paper.  Directions will be provided to make additional books on your own.

What a Difference an Angle Makes

Welcome back to a new year at NOLAA.  We have some great plans for the 2013-2014 season and look forward to seeing old friends and, of course, making new ones.

The May Meeting will be held at the East Bank Regional Library

Pocket Page Book with Japanese Stab Binding

For our final meeting Georgia Baisier will guide us through the assemblage of a book with pockets and blank pages.  This book can be used to hold the classwork from the past year.  So bring your work to store in your completed book or decorate pages as you wish.

Contemporary Ornate Pictorial Calligraphy

This April NOLAA member Gina Cox will demonstrate ornate pictorial calligraphy in the style of Linda Schneider.  We will begin by practicing basic flourishing strokes and then combine them into pictorial designs that can be used to decorate cards and envelopes.
